Hello Sauras, this is Chris Bottoms with your Saura weekly update. We have a busy week ahead at South Stokes. Our teachers return to the building on Thursday as we prepare to kick-off the 2023-2024 school year! Athletics will be in full swing this week, on Tuesday Tennis is at home against Forbush, volleyball is home against Glenn, and soccer is on the road at North Surry. On Wednesday tennis is home against West Stokes, and soccer is away at West Stokes. On Thursday, volleyball is home against West Stokes, and JV Football travels to West Stokes. This Friday's varsity football game against West Stokes is a home game, however, due to our track construction, we may not be able to play at South. A determination will be made early this week to see if the facility is safe enough to host this game. Once a decision is made, we will send out notification through social media and a phone call. Monday through Thursday this week from 9-2 the South Stokes Saura Band will be having band camp at South Stokes. A reminder that Freshman Orientation will be on August 22nd, at 4:00 pm. This will be followed by Freshman Open House at 6:00. This open house time is also for any new students to South Stokes. 10th-12th grade Open house will be on Wednesday August 23rd, with two floating sessions to choose from, one from 9-11, and the other from 1-3. You can save time by paying the fees online, or you can pay in cash at open house. Families may attend the open house session that works best with your families schedule.
