Hello Sauras, this is your weekly update from South Stokes. Our community is still feeling the pain and loss of Stokes Early College student and Saura baseball player Blake Hughes. On Monday night at 6:00 pm South Stokes will be hosting a baseball game against Elkin in his honor. No admission will be charged, but donations to Blake's family will be accepted. This week is Teacher Appreciation Week, thank you to all of our teachers at South Stokes for the tremendous job they do for our students. Please take some time this week to thank your child's teachers for the hard work they do. The Junior/Senior Prom is this Saturday, May 6th from 7 to 11pm, at the Barn on Shelton Farm in Madison. This is a formal event, proper attire is required. Tickets cost $35 each cash only. Tickets will be sold through this Wednesday in Mrs. Barczy's classroom. Tickets and information will be distributed on Friday, May 5th in homeroom. This week our AP students begin taking the AP Exams, we wish they the best of luck. Friday is School Lunch Hero Day, thank you to our cafeteria workers for the terrific food they feed our students everyday. On Tuesday students from our Ag program will be participating in the state cattle handling competition, we wish them good luck. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to our Mrs. Garcia-Fischer, and Teacher Assistants Mary Cromer and Beth Nelson. These ladies work very hard to help students be successful everyday. They will be recognized at the SCS Retirement Banquet this Thursday. This week in Saura sports, baseball and softball will be in the Conference Tournaments. South Stokes will be hosting the softball Tournament this year, and the baseball tournament will be at Mount Airy High School. on Monday soccer hosts North Stokes and in baseball South hosts Elkin. On Tuesday soccer hosts Elkin. On Wednesday soccer travels to Alleghany. On Thursday the softball tournament final will be held at South Stokes. On Friday track will be hosting the Conference tournament.
