Saura Weekly Update 3/4/24-3/8/24

Hello Sauras, this is your weekly update from South Stokes. This week National Severe Weather Preparedness Week. We will be have our required Tornado drill on Monday, instead of Wednesday when most schools will be having theirs. Also this week, we are kicking off our Saura March Madness Attendance Challenge. For the next month, we will be calculating attendance for each home room in a competition to see which class has the best attendance. The winner of the competition at the end will receive an off campus lunch. On Tuesday, it is an optional teacher workday, students will return to school on Wednesday, March 6th. On Friday, most Seniors will be taking the Workkeys assessment. This assessment is an important tool to highlight essential skills in the work place. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Misty Spencer. Misty has been working in our cafeteria for the past several years, and Monday will be her last day. She has built positive relationships with our students and worked very hard in our cafeteria as well as the Early College's. Thank you for your kindness and leadership, you will be greatly missed. This week in Saura Sports, congratulations to the boys varsity basketball team on advancing to the 3rd round of the state playoffs. On Tuesday, we will host Eastern Randolph at 7pm. Doors open at 6pm, and once we have reached seating capacity, the gates will close. Per NCHSAA playoff rules we will have to section off 1/3 of the seating for Eastern Randolph fans. Disrespectful fans will not be tolerated. On Monday, baseball travels to Forbush. On Tuesday softball travels to Uwharrie Charter, baseball hosts West Stokes, and tennis travels to Walkertown. On Wednesday golf plays at Pilot Knob and on Thursday soccer travels to West Stokes. On Friday softball travels to McMichael.
