Hello Sauras, this is your weekly update from South Stokes. This week is Bus Driver Appreciation Week, thank you to our bus drivers Beth Nelson, Tina Lawson, Annette Gentry, Judy James, Tabatha Joyce, Phil Long, Walter Scales, Ted Rollet and Adela Jaramillo. Congratulations to Richard Smith our new SSHS Teacher of the Year. Mr. Smith is a Social Studies teacher at South Stokes and we appreciate his hard work and dedication to our students. On Wednesday we will be having a School Improvement Team Meeting at South Stokes at 3:30. This Thursday, February 16th at 6:00 PM we will be having Curriculum Night at South Stokes. Parents, please have a conversation with your child about making sure they are following the dress code. Students should wear shirts that cover the body from shoulder to waist. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Jalee Brown. Jalee has done an outstanding job with indoor track this season and did a great job at the State Finals, thank you Jaylee. With a look ahead, next Monday 2/20/23 is a teacher work day. This week in Saura sports, congratulations to the boys basketball team on Back to Back Conference Championships. This week they play in the conference tournament at Alleghany High School, as well as girls basketball. Congratulations to our wrestling team for the good showing in regionals, and especially to Cohen Jennings and Isaac Nelson for qualifying for the state tournament this Saturday in Greensboro. This week marks the beginning of Spring sports and tryouts.
