Saura Weekly Update 11/21/22 - 11/25/22

Hello Sauras, this is your weekly update from South Stokes. This week will be a short one as we will begin Thanksgiving Break on Wednesday, November 23rd. I wanted to make parents aware of an opportunity for students that have excessive absences. Once a student has accumulated their 10th absence in a class, they may be denied course credit for this semester. We are offering the opportunity for students to make up time after school. Students that choose to do this will have it reflected favorably in their Attendance Waiver they will need to complete at the end of the semester. Please contact the school counselors if you have questions about this optional program. This week I would like to send a Saura Shout out to Sandra Petty, one of our math teachers at South Stokes. She has volunteered to stay after school with students that need to make up time due to excessive absences, thank you. This week in Saura Sports, on Tuesday the South Stokes Basketball teams travel to our big county rival West Stokes for our season opener. On Wednesday the wrestling team is heading up the mountain to Alleghany High School for a match. I hope that everyone is able to spend time with family and friends this Thanksgiving Holiday. We all have things we are thankful for. I am thankful to be the principal of such a great school as South Stokes High School.
