Hello Sauras! This is Chris Bottoms with your Saura Weekly Update. Thank you to everyone that helped make our Homecoming celebrations last week possible. Congratulations to the ladies of our Homecoming Court, and congratulations to our new Miss Congeniality, Lane Birchfield, our Homecoming Princess, Haley Tyndall, and our Homecoming Queen, Mackenzie Joyce. On Monday, 10th grade students will be taking the PreACT. On Tuesday the Band Boosters will be meeting in the band room at 6:30. 10th grade students interested in registering for the PSAT will need to do so by this Wednesday. See your counselor Mrs. Sawyer for details. Wednesday is Unity Day, and we encourage all of our staff and students to wear orange as a visible message of building community through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion to prevent bullying. This Friday we will be having makeup pictures for students that missed the Fall Picture day in September. With a look ahead, report cards go home on Monday, October 21st, and we will be posting to our social media pages information about a schoolwide assembly we will be having on November 6th. This Assembly is being sponsored by our Student Government Association and the JROTC program in honor of our Veterans. Next Tuesday, the middle school band will be joining our band for a Halloween Concert at 7:00 pm. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Chloe Neal. Chloe initiated greeting and welcoming a new student. Chloe has a drive to get her work done and always encouraging her peers. Thank you Chloe, for your kindness and leadership. This week in Saura Sports, congratulations to our Lady Saura volleyball team on becoming the conference champions for this season. On Monday, soccer hosts East Wilkes. On Tuesday volleyball travels to the conference tournament at Mount Airy. Thursday, cross country travels to Ivey Redmond. This Friday football travels to North Stokes, with kick off at 7:00. Good luck to Saura tennis player Aubri Derrenbacher as she competes in the regionals this Friday and Saturday. Thank you for your support of South Stokes High School, and as always, GO SAURAS
