Hello Sauras, this is Mr. Bottoms with your weekly update from South Stokes. I hope all of our Saura families had a restful break and a Happy New Year. Monday is a teacher workday and students return to school on Tuesday, January 4th. Students will report to their home rooms first thing on Tuesday morning to pick up their schedules for second semester. The second semester also means that Stokes County Schools will be mask optional. When a school’s exclusion rate exceeds 5%, masks will be required for students, staff, and visitors until such a time when the exclusion rate falls below 5%. Exclusion rate is the percentage of a school population in quarantine or isolation. Data will be captured at noon and announced by 1:00 pm for the following day. This information is posted on the district website, and linked on our school home page. We will also notify families of a change in status through the phone message system and signage at the school. In Saura sports on Tuesday basketball is away at Mt. Airy. On Wednesday wrestling is away at Starmount, and this Friday basketball is away at East Surry. This Saturday South Stokes wrestling will be hosting the Rick Williams Duals. With a look ahead to next week, report cards will go home on January 10th, and next week will be a short week with Thursday being a Remote Instruction Day and Friday being a teacher workday. This information can also be found at the events section of our school homepage as well as under the Saura Weekly Updates on the school web page. Thank you for your support of South Stokes High School, and as always, GO SAURAS!
