Hello Sauras, this is your weekly update from South Stokes. School is out tomorrow, January 23rd for a teacher work day. Students return to school on Tuesday, January 24th. This week is the beginning of the second semester. On Tuesday, students will report to their home rooms at 8:30 so they can pick up their schedule for the second semester. Students that were in driver's education in January will be taking their exam on Tuesday after school. This is the make up date from January 12th. As we start the second semester, I ask that parents remind our students about how after 9 absences, students are at risk of not getting credit for their class. Also, remind them that if they attend school, and maintain good grades, they will be exempt from the spring exams, unless they have a state required test. With a look ahead, January 30th is the day report cards go out. 1/30/23 is also the first ACT Review Session, this one is for math. The ACT will be held in March, and is an important test for students wishing to go to college. It will be held in Room F6, from 3:30-4:30 and snacks will be provided. Students should bring paper, pencil, and a calculator. On February 1st, we will be having FAFSA Night at South Stokes from 6:30-7:30 for our seniors and senior parents. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to our cheerleaders. Our cheerleaders do a great job of cheering our athletes on and also have helped with cleaning the gym after basketball games. Thank you for this selfless service. This week in Saura Sports, basketball is away at Surry Community College playing Mt. Airy on Tuesday. Indoor Track also has the conference meet on Tuesday. On Wednesday the wrestling team is away at North Davidson and on Friday basketball is away at East Wilkes. This information can also be found at the events section of our school homepage as well as under the Saura Weekly Updates on the school web page. Thank you for your support of South Stokes High School, and as always, GO SAURAS!
