Saura Weekly Update 1/15/24 - 1/19/24

Hello Sauras, this is your weekly update from South Stokes. School is out Monday for students and staff in observance of Martin Luther King Day. Exams continue this week with 2nd period exams on Tuesday, 3rd period exams on Wednesday, 4th period exams on Thursday and make up exams on Friday. During the exam period students are allowed to leave school after their exam for the day, however the buses will not dismiss until the end of the school day at 3:20. If your child is a bus rider and would like to leave after their exam, they will need a note giving them permission to ride home with another student or be picked up after their exam. Remember, if your child is exempt for the day's exam they do not need to attend. Students taking state required EOC and CTE tests cannot be exempt from exams. On Wednesday there will be an Athletic Boosters meeting in the cafeteria at 6:30 pm. Also on Wednesday we will be having our School Improvement Team meeting after school. If you are the parent of one of our students and are interested in being the parent representative in our School Improvement Team, please contact the school. Next Monday, 1/22/24, we will be having our 2nd semester Open house from 6:00 - 7:30. This will give parents an opportunity to meet your child's second semester teachers. The event begins in the main gym at 6:00 pm. This week's Saura Shout Out goes to Erin Kieffer, Nick Leophard, Augustus Gibson and Arianna Keaton. These students have been a big help in our Saura band's successful performances around Christmas. Thank you for your kindness and leadership. This week in Saura Sports, on Friday basketball hosts North Stokes in a big county and conference rivalry game. On Saturday the wrestling team travels to Mount Airy to compete in the conference tournament.
